How to structure Marketing Department

It is such an important role, the role of media buying.

You do not want all your business to rely on one or very few individuals.

On the podcast Operators, Marty gives this structure recommendation.

Basically, the department should be divised into two groups:

  1. One would be the media buyers. These are the engineers that understand the Facebook Ad platform as well as the Google ads and more.

    They would be a team of 2-3 media buyers which is enough to feed a huge business (100M$+).
  2. The second group would be the creative teams. They would be divised in small groups of two. In each group, there is a content writer and one designer. That designer can be specialized in photography, video, 3D animation, etc.

    These groups of 2 are called pods. And that way, depending on the cycle of the business, you can easily add or remove pods as you please.
